Charitable Donations Drive

How the charitable donations drive works:
SEIU Local 083 collects the donations and gives them to Community Services Consortium. CSC distributes them to the organizations listed below and to its own charitable activities. CSC is providing us with tax receipts for people who want them.
Needed Items — New (or gently-used)
- Clean clothing in wearable condition
- Personal items: sample sizes (and travel pouches/ditty bags for packaging samples)
- Toys
- Small household items
- CASH
- Baby items
- Motel vouchers
- Gas vouchers
- Food (non-perishable items)
- Commitments of volunteer time (specifics of willingness needed)

Needs cash donations for gas vouchers/motel vouchers for homeless, plus food and/or services not covered by grants.
CSC is a Community Action Agency providing services to low income, poor, individuals and groups in need. Some of their programs are Linn Benton Food Share, Head Start in Lincoln County, community housing services, employment and training services, utility payment services, etc. They served approximately 59,000 people last year and have been serving people since 1980. Albany Helping Hands, 1989 Santiam Hwy SE
Needs donations of toys, food, clothing, cash, and volunteer work time to improve facilities.
Albany Helping Hands is a homeless shelter for singles, families, and mentally ill. They provide shelter, meals, limited crisis counseling, phone services, payee service, and some medical supplies. They turn very few people away. They connect them with other agencies when available. They serve approximately 700 individuals per year, serving them approximately 25,000 meals.

FISH Emergency Services Corvallis:
Assistance with medical, rent, utilities, transportation. Contact: 752-4688
FISH of Albany and FISH of Lebanon:
Needs assistance with medical, rent, utilities, transportation, food boxes and clothing, prescriptions.
Fish of Albany has two programs for the homeless.
- Guest House provides transitional housing and support to pregnant or mothering teens. Guest House enables them to complete school, learn job and living skills, as well as parenting, nutrition, and money management. Last year they served 74 individuals.
- Transitional Housing has three transitional housing units for individuals and families with no or low income. In the past decade, FISH Transitional Housing has served 3 couples, 13 couples with children, one single male, 37 single mothers and 4 single fathers. These shelter units include services such as case management and education on life skills.

Jackson Street Youth Shelter, 555 Jackson St., Corvallis:
Needs $5 (or more) cash donations to buy heating oil for their furnace.
Jackson Street Youth Shelter is an overnight emergency shelter for youth ages 10 to 17. Residents receive help with goal setting and life skills, counseling and group activities, positive role models, help finding safe and permanent housing, and follow-up services. The shelter also links youth and their families to other services in the community. Last year Jackson Street Youth Shelter served 240 youths, providing 2,956 meals. Contact: 754-2404. Community Outreach (COI), Corvallis:

Gleaning Groups (Linn and Benton Counties):

ABC House Albany:
Child victim assessment center. Contact: 926-2203.
CARDV Corvallis:
Shelter, advocacy, counseling, support. Their special need is used cell phones for direct contact to emergency system/911. Contact: 754-0110.
HOPE, Inc. (Sweet Home):
Emergency shelter. Contact: 367-4673.
Parent Enhancement Program (PEP) Corvallis:
Mentoring program for young parents. Contact: 758-8292.
On Our Own Albany (drop-in center):

Sharing Hands Brownsville:
Help with utilities, prescriptions, propane, gasoline. Contact: 466-3110.
Sweet Home Emergency Ministries (SHEM) (Sweet Home):
Vouchers for propane, prescriptions, clothes, rent, utilities, food boxes. Contact: 367-6504.
We Care Benton County:
Financial assistance only. Contact: 758-2632.
CSC’s Linn Benton Food Share:
Distribution of food to various local food banks. Contact: 752-1010.
Benton Furniture Share, Corvallis:
No-cost furniture to low-income households (by social services referral only). Contact: 754-9511.
Love, Inc., Benton County:
Clothing, bikes, linens, transportation, home needs. Contact: 757-8111.
Vina Moses, Corvallis:
Clothing and household items. Contact: 753-1420.
